Message from Ivan

In today’s world, we are all aware of the importance that Internet plays in our lives. Radio Lehen il-Qala is constantly trying to make maximum use of the latest technology. To further help improve the communication, particularly with those Qalin who live abroad and would like to keep updated with all that is going on in their hometown, we are upgrading the official website of our radio station. We hope that through this, our emigrants will be kept well informed with all activities organized by Radio Lehen il-Qala and the Qala Parish Church. Special thanks goes to Paul Portelli, Paul James Mizzi and Joe Falzon for their help in setting up this website.
This year RLQ is celebrating its 15th year from its first transmission. Throughout all these years there were a lot of turbulences but, despite all of this, Radio Lehen il-Qala kept on getting stronger and stronger. From a small room on top of the sacristy, we are now operating from state-of-the-art studios. It’s a place where previous and present volunteers have given all their energy, talent and time with great dedication.
For these celebrations, RLQ is upgrading its webcam that is located on top of the parish building where the Ite ad Joseph band is located. We are doing this because we know how our emigrants feel at this time of year when the feast is approaching. This camera will capture and transmit all activities held in the Qala square, its surrounding streets and all fireworks from the Wileg area. We’ve also upgraded the camera inside the church as well so everyone will be able to see all the celebrations going inside the church. Furthermore, a song was produced to mark these occasions and a new set of jingles was recorded as well.
We would like to thank all the benefactors that help keep our station going on financially, our listeners for their continuous support, the presenters and technicians because without them our voices could not be heard in our houses. Last, but not least, we would like to thank the Archpriest Fr. Joe Zammit, Fr. Charles Buttigieg and all the clergy for their continuous support.
On behalf of the administration of Radio Lehen il-Qala, we wish you all the best during these St Joseph feast celebrations.
