The appointment of a new archpriest brings around new beginnings as well as a sense of continuation for all parishes involved in such process. The same feeling is being felt in Qala right now as the whole community bids farewell and thanks Archpriest Fr Ignatius Borg for his dedication and hard work during his 7 years spent amongst us. At the same time we are welcoming the new Archpriest Mons. Dr Edward Xuereb as he takes over the spiritual responsibility of the Qala community.

As part of such transition, a series of handover meetings were held by both Archpriests throughout the 23-25 August with all committees and parish organisations. Radju Leħen il-Qala is one of such organizations with whom a handover meeting was held. During this meeting, the dynamics and overall organisation of our community radio station were explained to the new Archpriest. The radio schedules, 24/7 audio visual streaming services and this year’s 25th anniversary celebrations were amongst the themes discussed.

Archpriest Fr Ignatius Borg mentioned the importance that the community radio station has in Qala especially during this global pandemic. He also referred to the popularity of the radio station amongst the elderly and emigrants. On his part, Archpriest Mons. Dr Edward Xuereb recognised the importance of our community radio station and looks forward to find new ways how to connect with the Qala parishioners through Radju Leħen il-Qala.
